Charleston Elementary is one of the three remaining original grammar schools that made up the West Side Union High School District. The Bambauer and Wiley families started the original Charleston School in 1882. No part of the original Charleston School remains. The old section of the building that is there now was built in 1939. There are 7 classrooms, 11 portables, office, cafeteria/kitchen, a library & a computer lab. Charleston is on 4.14 acres and operates on a traditional calendar.
