Dear Los Banos Unified School District (LBUSD) Families,
We strive to support our students by providing a positive and caring environment. To that end, please see the information below, in addition to immigration resources that your family may need.
Your Child’s Right to Education:
Every child has the right to a free public education, regardless of immigration status. In California, all children:
· Have the right to attend free public school.
· Must be enrolled in school if aged 6–18.
· Have the right to a safe, discrimination-free learning environment.
· Can participate in all school programs without discrimination.
To protect and support all students:
· Immigration-enforcement officers are not allowed on campus unless required by law with a
signed warrant.
· Parents/guardians will be notified if a student is named by immigration authorities.
· School staff will not share confidential information, including immigration status, unless
legally required.
For detailed information, please visit:
· Guide for Students and Families
· Quick Reference for School Officials guide.
If your family is facing challenges, we are here to help. Mr. Felipe Meraz, Director of Student
Services, is available to connect you with support or answer questions.
Together we can ensure a safe, caring school community.
Respectfully,
Mark E. Marshall, Ed.D.
Proud Superintendent of Los Banos Unified School District
